Man Arrested for Ax Attack

SACRAMENTO—A South Sacramento man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a woman with an ax.

On Sunday morning, October 19,  Sacramento Police received a call from a woman at approximately 6:00 a.m. from the 7800 block of Center Parkway in a neighborhood south of Mack Road. Officers found her with a significant injury from an ax.

The suspect, Jamaal Ringgold, 25, was approached by officers and took off running, but was arrested a short time later. It’s not clear why Ringgold allegedly attacked the woman.

Sacramento Police says one of their officers was injured during Ringgold’s arrest. The officer’s injury is considered minor, according to a brief release from the Sacramento Police Department.

Ringgold faces charges including attempted homicide, domestic violence and resisting arrest. He was booked at Sacramento County Jail and held without bail. Ringgold has 2 previous arrests on record for DUIs in 2010 and earlier this year. Though his current address was not released, he has lived the past in both Sacramento and Las Vegas.
