Speeding Leads To Arrests For Car Theft In Davis

One clue led to another after a routine traffic stop for speeding, which enabled Davis police to solve related stolen vehicle and car burglary cases on October 6.

According to Davis P.D. spokesman Lieutenant Tom Waltz, an officer on patrol near the intersection of F Street and Anderson Road on the northern outskirts of Davis, at about 1:30 am on October 6, pulled the car in question over for speeding.

While conducting a license plate check after the stop, the officer learned that the car was recently reported stolen. Thereupon, the officer placed the car’s three occupants under arrest. After that, Waltz said, the officer searched the car and discovered a suspicious collection of electronic equipment, jewelry and other items stolen during a car burglary in South Davis that had not yet been reported to police.

Arrested were three residents of West Sacramento including: Brejana Latrice McCrory, 24; Lynette McMihelk, 37; and a 16-year-old girl, Waltz said. All were charged with vehicle theft and burglary.
