BAKERSFIELD — A third suspect suspected involved in the fatal shooting of a man in south Bakersfield on Sunday was arrested on Wednesday. Eric Gonzalez, 29, of Bakersfield was booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of conspiracy to commit homicide and homicide.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, detectives investigating the August 10 murder of Jonathan Saavedra Dean of Bakersfield identified Gonzalez as one of the shooters in the assault on the 29-year-old man. Dean was found dead at the scene around 11:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of Silver Dollar Way suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

On August 11, 2014, detectives initially identified and arrested two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, for the homicide. They were booked into the Kern County Juvenile Hall on charges of conspiracy to commit homicide and homicide.

An investigation is ongoing to see if this incident is related to a recent Quincy Street homicide being investigated by the Kern County Sheriff’s Department.
