Stalker Arrested After Assault Against Ex

The Paso Robles Police Department arrested a man last Tuesday for using his vehicle to assault his ex-wife.

According to PRPD, they received a call at approximately 11:17 p.m. from a female caller who told dispatch her ex-husband was chasing her in his vehicle as she drove westbound on the 100 block of Niblick Road. The woman told police ex-husband was driving recklessly and had attempted to use his vehicle to block her path and force her to stop. She said the vehicles had collided.

While dispatchers kept the caller on the line, officers proceeded to the area to locate the suspect and victim. Officers located the involved vehicles on the 800 block of Spring Street and attempted to stop the suspect as he was driving recklessly, but were unable to do so.

This suspect was identified by police as Ernesto Flores Duarte, 34, a Paso Robles resident. The victim was able to pull over safely once officers were on the scene. She told them the suspect had been stalking her and harassing her via text messages all day. She further told police the suspect’s vehicle suddenly appeared as she was driving through the city with her friend, and he was attempting to force her off the road.

Neither the victim nor her friend were injured during these events. Duarte was arrested and booked into the SLO County Jail for two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, felony stalking and driving on a suspended license
