Felon Arrested for Weapons in Lamont

LAMONT — Deputies arrested a 34-year-old Lamont man on Wednesday night after he was found that he was a felon in possession of weapon.

Abel Godinez was booked in to the Central Receiving Facility on one count of felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a stolen property and other misdemeanor charges.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Godinez was taken into custody shortly after 10 p.m. on July 23, after deputies from the Lamont substation responded to the area of Towerline Road and Muller Road on a report of illegal shooting.

Upon their arrival, deputies said they located a vehicle matching the description provided by a witness leaving the area near Highway 58, west of Towerline Road, and subsequently made a traffic stop.

The vehicle was occupied by Godinez and four juveniles, who were all detained while deputies searched the vehicle, discovering four firearms and ammunition. All four juveniles were released to parents at the scene.
