Traffic Stop Led to Four Being Arrested

Vehicle Was Seen Speeding Down Street

WATSONVILLE—Agents with the Santa Cruz County Gang and Narcotics Task Force arrested four individuals after their vehicle was seen speeding down Holly Drive in Watsonville on Friday night.  Arrested were 19-year-old Pablo Ruiz, 22-year-old Daniel Sanchez, 23-year-old Adan Valerio and 23-year-old Roberto Meza. All are from the Watsonville Area.

On Friday night about 10:30 pm., two agents from the Santa Cruz County Gang and Narcotic Task Force were on patrol in South County near the Watsonville area when they noticed a vehicle speeding down Holly Street.  Before pulling the vehicle over the officers noticed an object was thrown from the passenger side of the car.

The vehicle was stopped near Airport Road. The officers made contact with the four individuals in the vehicle and determined that Adan Valerio and Daniel Sanchez were on active probation. The other two individuals – Roberto Meza and Pablo Ruiz – were on active parole.

“Watsonville Police Officers searched the area where the agents determined that the object was thrown from the vehicle.” SCCACT Commander Mario Sulay wrote in press release, “That search produced a load .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun that was turned over to us.”

All four occupants of the vehicle were arrested. Two occupants, Valerio and Sanchez, were prohibited from associating with any known gang members. David Sanchez and Adan Valerio were arrested on charges of probation violation, carrying a loaded firearm, participating in a criminal street gang and promoting a criminal street gang. Their bail has been set at 25,000.00 a piece.

Pablo Ruiz and Roberto Meza were arrested on charges of felony violation of parole, carrying a load firearm, participating in a criminal street gang along with promoting a criminal street gang.  Their bail has also been set at 25,000.00 a piece.

All four were booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
