Father is One of Three Arrested After Shooting Two, Including His Own Daughter

BAKERSFIELD — A father who shot two people, including his own daughter, is behind bars following an altercation in east Bakersfield on Friday night.

Edgardo Acosta 36, is facing charges of attempted murder, child endangerment and negligent discharge of a firearm. He, along with the girl’s stepmother, 35-year-old Lissette Navarro and 19-year-old Jose Licea, were all booked into the Kern County Jail. Navarro is being charged for assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment, while Licea was booked for battery.

According to deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office the incident began when Acosta, Navarro and his 13-year-old daughter, went to break up a fight between Licea and another male subject in the 3200 block Kentucky Street at around 7:40 p.m. on July 18.

Navarro assaulted Licea with a baseball bat, then Acosta  fired a shot from a handgun which struck another 27-year-old man, and his daughter, in the head. Both victims were transported to Kern Medical Center.

Edgardo acosta did not shoot his daughter or the other man from 3200, the story is all wrong the people from 3200 are liars and told the story all wrong. The police and investigators did not do thier job right.they did not check or search the home of 3200.The police and deputies treated the parents and children from 3201 with much disrespect.I and most people hope they find out the truth and drop all Edgardo Acostas charges because he is inecent.

the people from 3208 started the altercation,, they apparently did not notice they are starting an altercation with a bunch of children,, as grown as they are they should of had a different way of doing things if they are seeing a bunch of children in THEIR YARD, the 3208 people approached the other residence. the news and police didn’t even tell the story correctly, they made many assumptions, the police did not give anyone a chance to speak the truth, but hopefully the judge takes the father into consideration and sees all 10 of his children need their father, EDGARDO ACOSTA, home with them. these children need their father that raised them all their lives, most children out there don’t have their fathers and these children do, so therefore everyone should see that him as a father with 10 great children, deserve to be all home and reunited as one not some!!!!!
    FREE THEIR DADDY!!!
