Deputies use Tasers to Subdue Suspect

Suspect Stated that “he killed Osama bin Laden”

CARMEL—Deputies with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Coastal Division responded to the Carmel Hyatt at 120 Highland Drive on a report of a distraught male causing a scene in the pool area of the exclusive Hotel.

On Thursday, June 12, at 10:28 Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the Hotel and found 51-year-old Santa Barbara resident Lawrence Frassoldati standing on the balcony of his room.

Once he noticed the deputies he began yelling at them, stating, “That he was armed with a Beretta and a AR-15, and was going to kill the first person that came through his door.”

Investigating deputies learned from the hotel staff that Mr. Frassoldati was at the pool area earlier and was yelling and cursing. When the hotel staff asked him to return to his room, Mr. Frassoldati told them “that he killed Osama Bin Laden and that they should call the cops to bring their guns because this was not going to end well.”

Mr. Frassoldati had damaged several areas of his hotel room as well as the front window. Hotel staff estimated the damage to be about $2000.00 dollars. Upon making contact with the deputies Mr. Frassoldati took up a fighting stance.

He fought with deputies for a short time, before deputies used tasers multiple times in order to subdue him and take him into custody. While Mr. Frassoldati was being transported to the hospital for injuries he sustained during his destroying of the room, he kicked out the patrol unit’s window.

Mr. Frassoldati was transported and booked into the Monterey County Jail in Salinas.
