TAFT— A 21-year-old man was arrested on Monday in Taft, for having sex with an underage girl.
Baltazar Garcia Silvia was booked into the Taft City Jail for a felony charge of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
Although Silvia’s bail has been set at $250,000, he has not been released after being held on a no-bail immigration hold.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, deputies from the Taft substation responded to a residence in the Ford City area of Taft at about 8 pm on June 16, regarding a previously reported 14-year-old female who had returned home.
During their investigation, deputies discovered that the 14-year-old and 21-Silva met online several months ago and have been in a four-month dating relationship.
