Was Air Force Man Flying High?

INGLEWOOD, CA—Just because one is enlisted in or works for the United States Air Force (USAF) doesn’t mean that one is free to fly high while driving.

Jerome McGee, 34, had his figurative wings clipped when Inglewood Police Department (IPD) officers stopped him on Friday, May 9 at approximately 2100 hours. (That’s 9 p.m. in civilian time vernacular.) The Los Angeles Air Force Base employee was stopped at 100th Street and Prairie Avenue. (The Air Base is nearby in El Segundo.)

Police reports state that McGee was stopped for a number of charges: DUI alcohol/drugs, DUI alcohol/0.08 percent or more Blood Alcohol Level (BAL), driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled narcotic and one prior warrant for driving without a license.

The total bail was set at $58,500.

If McGee is indeed a USAF member and not just an employee, he could face the same set of charges on base—which means that once he’s done drying out in civilian jail, he’ll have his feathers plucked again by the military.
