One Arrested Following Raid on Medical Marijuana Operation

DELANO — A man was arrested on Tuesday after a authorities raided an illegal pot farm in Delano.

Greg Zuniga, 30, from Bakersfield book into the Kern County Jail’s Central Receiving Facility for illegal possession of a shotgun and ammunition and illegal possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began on May 13, at around 2 p.m., when deputies and the Kern Narcotics Enforcement Team, and Kern County Code Compliance officers, served a search warrant on a medical marijuana operation in the area of Cecil Avenue and Wasco Pond Road in Delano.

“It was discovered by officers that the grow site was found to be out of compliance,” Ray Pruitt, sheriff’s department spokesman said. “A subsequent search of the property resulted in the seizure of 79 marijuana plants with a street value of approximately $200,000.”

Also during the execution of the search warrant, deputies said they witnessed a vehicle leaving the vicinity. When deputies initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the occupants, a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of an illegally possessed shotgun, ammunition and marijuana.
