Drunk Motorist vs. Residential Garage

The San Luis Obispo Police Department has a man in custody who drove a vehicle into a residence while allegedly intoxicated last Thursday.

According to SLOPD, officers responded to a call regarding a traffic accident.  The call stated a vehicle collided into a house at the intersection of Bougainvillea and Hollyhock.

Investigators say the driver, Branden Paulson, was driving his vehicle northbound on Hollyhock when he failed to negotiate a left turn at Bougainvillea. The vehicle left the roadway crashing into a garage on Bougainvillea. No one was home at the time.

After the crash, Paulson fled the scene on foot. SLOPD officers caught him a short time later.

According to SLOPD investigators, Paulson was determined to be driving his vehicle while intoxicated.

He was subsequently arrested for DUI and hit-and-run.

Paulson was transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail where he was booked.
