Man Stabbed Over Refusal to Buy Suspect Beer

FRESNO – The victim of a stabbing on Monday believes he was attacked in retaliation for refusing to buy a gang member a beer a week ago.

The gang member allegedly behind the stabbing is 21-year-old Jonathan “Shadow” Hernandez. He and a woman who also tried to attack the victim with a knife have not been found, police said.

The incident happened around 10:15 p.m. Monday on Cedar Avenue near Kings Canyon Road. The victim told police he was walking across Cedar when he was attacked by Hernandez and the woman. Hernandez allegedly hit the 27-year-old victim with he handle of his knife and then stabbed him in the thigh.

The suspects did not say anything before or after the attack and they did not steal anything from the victim. Right after the stabbing, the two fled through the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex, police said.

The victim identified the male attacker as Hernandez and told police that Hernandez had confronted him a week ago, asking him to buy Hernandez a beer. When the victim refused, Hernandez allegedly followed him to his apartment and threatened to take things from the apartment.

Hernandez is currently on probation for possessing a dirk and has an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.

The woman is described as in her 20s with long black and red hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
