SACRAMENTO—The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man on Thursday, March 20 for the alleged shooting of a teenager 10 days prior in the Foothill Farms area. Steven Albert Evans, 24, was taken into custody on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, officials said.
On Tuesday, March 11, officers said Evans fired a handgun from a vehicle, striking a 17-year-old, who suffered a life-threatening injury and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Officials say, however, that the victim is expected to make a full recovery.
The shooting occurred at about 5:30 p.m. along the 5000 block of Andrea Boulevard, which caused Foothill High School, which is a half mile away down Hillsdale Blvd., to be shut down for a period of time. A group of people reportedly were standing on the sidewalk in the residential neighborhood when gunshots were fired from a dark colored vehicle with at least two occupants.

A manhunt followed after reports that eight shots were fired near the Fountain Grove Apartments, which are also located in Andrea Blvd., just past Elkhorn.. At one point, officers thought they had the suspect in custody— but that turned out not to be the case.
Evans was booked Thursday night into Sacramento County Jail.
