She Came a Long Way to Jaywalk, Baby

INGLEWOOD, CA—In southern California, jaywalking is considered a significant violation, where simply stepping off a curb after the “Don’t Walk” light starts to flash can bring cops swooping in for the figurative kill. On the other hand, New York City police tend to be like referees who only acknowledge jaywalkers if one gets hit: “You’re out!”

Morgan McClean, 22, was picked up by Inglewood police for having an outstanding warrant for a jaywalking violation. The Newport News, Virginia resident was apprehended on Monday, March 10 at approximately 4 p.m. She was stopped at the corner of Manchester and Ash. The 5’1″, 150-lb. woman, who apparently told police her occupation is as a “laborer,” had bail set at $1,000 for the jaywalking warrant. No other charges were listed.

It was unknown if she was walking when she was stopped, and Inglewood police did not respond to requests for comment. McClean was unavailable for comment but it is imagined that she might reconsider going back a long way to VA when she gets out of jail.
