Dinuba Man Accused of Attempted Kidnapping

VISALIA – A 56-year-old man allegedly attempted to kidnap a 16-year-old boy in Visalia by asking him to come to his truck and then trying to grab his arm, and approached another boy in a similar incident the week before.

Police arrested Danny Ray January, of Dinuba, on Friday in connection to at least one attempted kidnapping and indecent exposure incident.

On Feb. 19, a 16-year-old boy was in the area of St. John’s Parkway and Lovers Lane when a man in a silver Nissan truck approached him. The man blocked the boy’s path with the truck and tried to get him to come over to him. When the teen resisted, the man got out of the truck and tried to grab the boy’s arm. The boy was able to get away and called the police.

An officer looking into the case found a very similar call to police earlier in the month. A man notified police that his nephew had been contacted by a completely naked man in a silver pick-up. The next day, the same truck showed up in the same area and the uncle was able to get the license plate.

Deputies pulled January over in the truck last Friday and he was arrested without incident. Both the boys identified him in a lineup.
