Burglary Suspect Busted with Facebook

San Luis Obispo Police have a man under arrest for stealing a cake at Madonna Inn Coffee Shop on Saturday.

According to SLOPD, the suspect entered the shop and stole a chocolate cake from the display case. The owner posted the video from security cameras on Facebook asking anyone who knew who the suspect was to contact the inn.

Security cameras captured the burglary and the owner of Madonna Inn, Connie Madonna-Pearce posted the security video on Facebook. She asked that anyone who recognizes the suspect to please call the Madonna Inn.

Someone who uses Facebook identified the suspect and called. The suspect was identified as Shea Patrick Martin, 44, of Morro Bay.

A SLOPD officer obtained a recent booking photo of Martin and compared it to the video. The officer obtained Martin’s address and then contacted Morro Bay Police to talk to Martin regarding the burglary. Police say when they arrived Martin fled out of the residence’s back door.

SLOPD officers say Martin called them a short time later and talked with the officer investigating the theft. The officer stated Martin said he would come in but later said he could not make it in. Police said a few days later an unidentified woman went to Madonna Inn and paid for the cake.

Although the cake was paid for, Madonna Inn is still seeking to press charges against Martin for burglary.
