Elder gang member tells younger to shoot at cops, police say

A Fresno gang member has been arrested for allegedly shooting at two police officers, police said Tuesday.

Asian Boyz member Joseph Chanla, 18, reportedly shot at officers Saturday morning as they searched for a man wanted for drug possession, according to reports. An elder member of the gang, Wilson Khounvixay, 29, supposedly told Chanla to fire the shots, according to reports.

Chanla fled the scene, but was eventually tracked to a nearby apartment, where officers found a stolen handgun hidden in a TV set. Chanla was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with gang enhancements. He reportedly confessed to the crime, said police.

Khounvixay was also tracked down and arrested.
