$500K Bail for Robbing 90-year old

Thousand Oaks – Stealing from people can get you into trouble.  Breaking into their house to steal from people will really get you into trouble.  Breaking into their house to steal from people while you’re waving a gun around will get you into more trouble than you ever thought possible.  And if you break into someone’s house to steal from them using a gun and they just happen to be a 90-year old woman, you should: a) be ashamed of yourself and b) enjoy wearing the color orange as a fashion statement every day of the year for…several years.

Based upon the actions he exhibited on the night of January 2—when an armed invasion of a Thousand Oaks residence occupied by an elderly woman was reported—Rocael Osorio, 37, would appear to be headed for such an eye-catching monochrome wardrobe commitment.  According to Thousand Oaks Police Detective Todd Welty, Osorio is believed to have targeted his elderly victim, commenting that “he knew she was an easy target.”

Ventura County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Alan Hartkop reported to the media that pursuant to the initial report of the home invasion robbery, members of the East Ventura County Major Crimes Unit working collaboratively with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Detail, initiated an investigation and “developed leads identifying Rocael Osorio as the suspect in this crime.”  With that information, Osorio was traced to his residence in Canoga Park, and he was taken into custody on January 8th when “Detectives recovered the handgun used in this crime.”

Osorio was transported to Ventura County Jail where he was booked on charges of armed robbery and elder abuse, with his bail set at $500,000.
