Nephew Stabs Uncle at Family Party

FRESNO  – A man is in the hospital in critical condition and his nephew is behind bars following a family party that turned violent, police say.

The Fresno Police Department arrested 35-year-old Kong Meng Vang for allegedly stabbing his 47-year-old uncle at a family member’s home at 71 N. Shelly Ave. Vang was at a family get-together when he allegedly grabbed the victim by the jacket and stabbed him in the neck with a long knife.

Other relatives at the home pulled Vang off of the victim and held him down until officers arrived at the scene. Vang was arrested and is expected to be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim was rushed to Community Regional Center and immediately went into surgery. His condition was listed as critical and unstable.

Police say they recovered the knife used in the attack, but they have yet to determine Vang’s motive.
