Man who plunged into creek with dogs arrested

A Point Reyes Station man who drove into Lagunitas Creek with his two dogs was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Aaron Ely, 39, lost control of his vehicle near Sir Francis Drake Boulevard Saturday night. He and his two dogs were not injured, according to reports. Authorities were notified when passing motorists saw the submerged vehicle.

Ely was booked into the Marin County jail. He now faces a host of legal and financial troubles stemming from the pending DUI charge. The average cost of a DUI in California is about $5,000, according to a website sponsored by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
