Teens Beat Up Woman For Purse, Police Say

SAN LEANDRO – Three Oakland teenagers were arrested Monday for an alleged strong-armed robbery against a woman in her 60s.

A 15-year-old girl allegedly tried to snatch the victim’s purse in a San Leandro shopping center. The girl allegedly punched the woman in the face, and then kicked her several times on the ground.

Purse in hand, the young girl fled in a get-a-way car driven by the other two suspects, both teenage boys.

But the victim was able to make a quick call to authorities – who within minutes spotted the getaway vehicle.

All three suspects, whose names were not released, were booked into the Alameda County Juvenile Hall.
