Perhaps It’s a Matter of Dagger Semantics

INGLEWOOD, CA—A rose is a rose is a rose unless it’s a dirk or a dagger but not a knife.

A dirk or a dagger?

Jamaal Brown, 20, was picked up by Inglewood police for a handful of charges: possession of marijuana, drinking in public and the distinctly titled “Carry Dirk or Dagger.” Of the three, bail was set at a pithy $35.00 for the marijuana possession, an eyebrow-raising $1,000.00 for the “drinking in public” charge and a whopping $35,000.00 for the seemingly exquisite “dirk or dagger” charge.

Jamaal, a Los Angeles resident, was picked up on Thursday, November 14 along the 700 block of Warren Lane at approximately 12:30 p.m. The 6′-tall, 165-pound man was far from his alleged residence on the 1000 block of Hobert (or Hobart) Boulevard in Los Angeles near Western Avenue and Olympic Boulevard.

The self-professed student was not available to comment if he was on his way to attend a Civil War re-enactment as he was not charged with possession of a musket.
