Rosedale S.W.A.T. standoff ends with one in custody

ROSEDALE — A S.W.A.T. standoff ends peacefully after a 30-year-old man fires a shot at another inside a Rosedale home on Saturday night.

3200 Chuckwagon Street

Ronnie Fangmeyer was arrested after he barricaded himself inside a residence in the 3200 block of Chuckwagon Street in a northwest Bakersfield neighborhood on November 23, at about 10:30 p.m.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call of a shots being fired and were told on arrival that Fangmeyer was armed with a shotgun and had fired a shot towards another subject inside the residence during a possible domestic dispute.

“Several individuals, including a three-year old child were able to flee the residence,” said Kern County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Ray Pruitt. “Mr. Fangmeyer then barricaded himself inside the residence and he would not come out. Due to the nature of the situation, the S.W.A.T. team was called to assist with the situation.”

Pruitt also said that deputies then attempted to call Fangmeyer out of his residence numerous times again without success.

However, after several hours of negotiations, the sheriff’s office stated that they were finally able to take Fangmeyer into custody without incident.

“No deputies or civilians were injured during this incident,” Pruitt said.

Fangemeyer was booked into the Kern County Jail on Sunday morning on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an inhabited dwelling and child endangerment.

Bail has not been set at this time.
