Home Invasion Suspect Leads Cops in Chase, Escapes

A man fleeing from police early Tuesday morning ran into a home on Dolores Court and into a child’s bedroom attempting to hide before running away, Moraga police said.

The harrowing events began around 6:10 a.m., when police spotted a man near Moraga Commons Park driving a Honda Civic that had been reported stolen. As police made a U-turn, the driver sped away. Police gave chase, and the suspect finally crashed into a wall near the intersection of Moraga Rd. and Rheem Blvd.

The driver then kicked out a car window and ran into a nearby 24 Hour Fitness, then out the back door. That’s when the suspect entered the home on Dolores Ct. through an open garage door, and into the child’s room. He then ran back into the garage, where the father confronted the suspect, who then ran off. No one in the home was hurt or threatened during the invasion.
