Martinez Police Arrest Burglar, Counterfeiter

Two different 911 calls resulted in arrests Tuesday—one for burglary in progress and the other for a woman who was trying to pass a bad check at a bank.

The burglary in progress happened on Masonic Street at 10:28 in the morning. A woman tried to get into the home but an alert citizen called police, and followed the suspect when she tried to escape on foot. A 36-year-old woman was arrested.

Just before 5 p.m. a 20-year-old woman tried to cash a counterfeit check for $948 at the US Bank on Main Street. Bank employees stalled her until police could arrive to make the arrest.
