One Arrested in Rosamond Pot Bust

ROSAMOND — A 63-year-old Rosamond man was arrested in a major marijuana bust on Thursday.

John Heinatz was arrested after officers from the Kern Narcotics Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a residence where deputies previously saw and smelled growing marijuana plants in the 6300 block of 105th Street West in Rosamond on June 6.

The search warrant was obtained as the result of a follow up on information that was received regarding a substantial marijuana grow in the area.

During their search, officers discovered in excess of 1,200 marijuana plants in various stages of growth as well as evidence of marijuana sales, and that the homeowner was performing a chemical extraction of the marijuana in order to produce honey oil — a concentrated oil filled with THC — the active ingredient in marijuana.

Heinatz was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Central Receiving Facility on charges of cultivation of marijuana, sales of marijuana and manufacturing an illegal substance.

His bail has been set at $70,000.
