Woman Arrested after Threatening Child with a Butcher Knife

Stockton- A woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after threatening a young boy with a butcher knife.

The suspect, Somnoun Hem, 27, is accused of threatening people with a butcher knife in her north Stockton neighborhood.

Stockton Police responded to the 9500 block of Cody Way around noon after receiving calls that Hem was running through the neighborhood and chasing people with a butcher knife. A witness told police that Hem held the knife to the throat of a 5 year-old boy that lives in the neighborhood.

Officers then tracked Hem to her home and took her into custody.

Police say Hem was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for cruelty to a child.
