Rocklin PD Arrest Catalytic Converter Theft Suspects

ROCKLIN – The Rocklin Police Department has arrested two individuals in connection to the growing popularity of absconding catalytic converters, according to an official press release.

Huong Van Nguyen, 60, a transient, and Ton Saeteurn, 30, of Sacramento were arrested for receiving stolen property, conspiracy, and possession of burglary tools. Both are currently being held ineligible for bail.

According to the Rocklin Police Department, on May 29, 2013, at 2:50am, an officer noticed a vehicle in the area of Stephanie Drive and Wesley Drive that was in violation of a section of the California Vehicle Code.

After making a traffic stop and talking with the driver and passenger, four catalytic converters and tools for removing converters were reportedly found within the vehicle. Both occupants were arrested and booked into Placer County Jail.

According to police, the four catalytic converters found in the suspects’ vehicle were recently stolen. Three of the four converters have reportedly been returned to their rightful owners.
