Kansas arrest in LA jail gang activity

SALINA, KAN.—One of the top “Secretaries” for the Mexican Mafia gang was arrested May 22nd in Salina, Kansas. According to an LASD press release, Cecilia Virgen-Deleon used a cell phone to help prison gangs move drugs and order murders and assaults within the Los Angeles County Jail.

Cecilia Virgen-Deleon

The LASD began their investigation in January 2013 when they arrested high-ranking Armenian Power gang member Gevork “Dopey” Simonian. Simonian’s arrest revealed connections between Armenian Power and the Mexican Mafia. Further investigation showed that the Mexican Mafia had been coordinating their criminal efforts by using Virgen-Deleon as a remote liaison.

After obtaining a warrant and arresting Virgen-Deleon in Salina, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged the suspect with two counts of conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon and seven counts of street terrorism. Virgen-Deleon is currently awaiting extradition to Los Angeles County for prosecution.
