Deputies Arrest Attempted Robbery Suspect

A man who attempted to rob employees at a CVS in Carmichael last week has been booked into jail after being released from the hospital, according to an official press release from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Zecharia Scholes, 36, was reportedly charged with kidnapping and robbery and is being held on $150,000 bail.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, on May 14, 2013, at approximately 5pm, deputies responded to the CVS at 4959 Marconi Avenue regarding a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, deputies reportedly entered the business and found Scholes in the secure area of the pharmacy, holding an employee at gunpoint. Due to the immediate threat to the employee and other customers, a deputy fired his weapon at Scholes, reportedly hitting and disabling him. Scholes was then transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
