Vacaville High Teacher Charged In Criminal Sexual Conduct Case

VACAVILLE – Theater and real life collided with shocking consequences when Rodney Orosco, 47, a Vacaville High School teacher and part-time drama coach was arrested by Vacaville Police on May 9, 2013 for “criminal charges related to sexual misconduct with a minor.”

Rodney Orosco, 47

Orosco had originally been placed on paid administrative leave in April. Prior to that, according to Vacaville Police spokesperson Sgt. C. Polen, Orosco had been observed “carrying the victim across the stage at the school theater” by the victim’s grandmother.

Family members subsequently spoke to the fifteen-year-old victim concerning her relationship with Orosco. Text messages on her phone provided further details that substantiated allegations concerning the inappropriate nature of the relationship. The victim also related that Orosco had kissed her on three occasions.

Acting on complaints made by the victim’s family, Vacaville Police detectives conducted a thorough, wide-ranging investigation. Subsequently, the District Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for Orosco’s arrest on charges of felony lewd and lascivious acts involving children.

Orosco, who had served a tour of duty from 2003-2005 in Iraq with the California National Guard, surrendered to authorities without incident.

Anyone having further information concerning this case is requested to call Detective Drew Talton at 530 469-6621.
