Police Searching for Escaped Prisoner

SANTA MARIA – Police are searching for man who was taken into custody late Sunday afternoon on drug and theft-related charges, but was able to escape before being booked at the County Jail.

Juan Coria Olayo, 24, was arrested around 5 p.m. on May 5 and taken to the Police Department, where he was able to remove his handcuffs while unattended and escape from custody, police said.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating Olayo, a Hispanic male, who is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds and has black hair.

Anyone with information about Olayo’s whereabouts is urged to not approach or detain him, but to instead call 911.
