Math Tutoring Done Wrong, Tutor Arrested

While a good relationship between a teacher and their students is an ideal thing to achieve, Gerald K. Heisler apparently misunderstood the “good relationships” part, taking his behavior with one student beyond legal limits.

Gerald K. Heisler, 62

Mr. Heisler, 62, was a teacher’s aide and a math tutor at Cain Middle School in Auburn. However, the parents of one of his students found that his communications with their child went beyond math. According to the reports from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Heisler was sending explicit text messages to his 14-year-old student.

Heisler was arrested on Tuesday, April 30, for lewd or lascivious acts with a child, contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sex crime, annoying or molesting a child, and possession of child porn. He was booked into the Placer County Jail with his bail set at $100,000 but posted a bond the same day and was released on Tuesday night. Heisler is to have his first court appearance on June 3 at the Santucci Justice Center.

Detectives do not believe there were any other victims of Heisler’s crime.
