Hollister Man Refuses to Leave Woman’s Property

HOLLISTER—Hollister Authorities used pepper spray and a TASER on 34-year-old Hollister resident Ubaldo Deleon after he refused to leave a women’s property and fought with officers.

On Monday at 12:30 p.m., Hollister Police responded to the 1300 block of Buena Vista Road on a report of a disturbance.  The victim stated that he found Deleon loitering around her property and asked him to leave several times but he refused.

She also stated that Deleon became agitated with her and locked himself in her small shed located on the property.  Fearing for her life the victim went back into her home and called police.

“The victim knew the him only through her nephew,” Hollister Interim Police chief Carlos Reynoso said.

Officers with the Hollister Police Department responded and began to talk with Deleon in an attempt to get him to leave the property, but he still refused.  Officer gained entry to the shed and a struggle ensued.  As the struggle escalated violently, officers were force to use pepper spray and eventually had to use a TASER on Deleon to take him into custody.

“The officer that was involved in the scuffle suffered minor injuries to his hands,” Interim Police Chief Carlos Reynoso added.

Deleon was transported to San Benito County Jail and charged with battery of a peace officer, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and a felony probation violation.  He also had a warrant for his arrest.  His bail has been set $21,000.
