Suspect Arrested for Murdering Roommate

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a woman in connection with the shooting death of her roommate two days ago, according to an official press release.

Linda Gabaldon was charged in the death of her roommate

Linda Gabaldon, 45, who had already been in custody on a parole violation was reportedly booked on a charge of murder and is ineligible for bail.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, on April 23, 2013, shortly before 4pm, Gabaldon called the department to report she had returned to her home on the 5900 block of Mascot Avenue to find her roommate shot to death. Deputies reportedly discovered the victim, Rebecca Brau, 53, inside a bedroom having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim and suspect were roommates in this neighborhood in South Sacramento

Results of the follow-up investigation by officers reportedly revealed evidence that was inconsistent with Gabaldon’s statement to detectives. Investigators believe that Gabaldon and the victim had a fight that resulted in Gabaldon fatally shooting the victim. The weapon used in the incident has reportedly not be located.

Anyone with pertinent information regarding this case is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 916-874-5115.
