Homeless Man Left Blind After Being Shot by Teens with Paintball Guns

FRESNO – Two teenagers are under arrest for shooting paintball guns at homeless people in Fresno, leaving one man blind in his right eye.

The Fresno Police Department arrested 18-year-old Felix Flores of Bakersfield and a 17-year-old juvenile from Fresno in connection to the crime.

Police say the two suspects were sitting inside a vehicle on Monday in the area of Fresno and F streets when they fired the first shots at a homeless man. They fled the area and then drove near Ventura and H streets, where they shot another homeless man. One of the men was hit in the torso.

Police say the teens were responsible for shooting homeless people two days earlier as well. During that incident, one man was pegged in the eye, causing him to lose his vision in that eye. His girlfriend was hit in the chin and chest.

Officers located the suspects in their car near Broadway and San Benito avenues. They were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy. They may also be facing mayhem charges, authorities said.

Police said the teens didn’t give a motive for the crime, other than that they were messing around.
