Vehicle vs. Tree Ends in DUI Arrest

San Luis Obispo Police have arrested a man for DUI after the driver hit a tree.

According to SLOPD, they received a 911 call regarding a car crashing into a tree at the intersection of Johnson Ave and Orcuss Road on Saturday around 1:15 am. When they arrived at the scene, the officers found a 2011 Volkswagen resting on the sidewalk after it sheared a tree.

The investigators identified the driver as Ethan Michael Dodgen, 25, of Arroyo Grande. There was also a 22-year-old female passenger from Nipomo whose name is withheld at this time.

Dodgen and his passenger were transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries.

Investigators say that the evidence revealed that Dodgen was driving while intoxicated. He was therefore arrested for felony DUI causing injury. His passenger was not charged with any crime.
