DINUBA – The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department arrested three men after a marijuana growing operation was found at a property in Dinuba.

Plants at the grow site

The Sheriff’s Department STEP Unit, Narcotics Unit, and Gang Unit arrested Richard Burkart, 53, Chadwick Burkart, 19, and Jose Jimenez, 36, for cultivation of marijuana, possession for sales, conspiracy, child endangerment and firearm charges.

Authorities served a search warrant in the 10200 block of Ave. 404 after a one-month investigation revealed that marijuana was being grown and sold at the property.

Investigators learned that Richard Burkart was responsible for a large marijuana grow located in a green house on the property which contained 1,386 mature marijuana plants, which was well in excess of the medical recommendations located on the property. Jimenez was also involved in the grow and working for Richard Burkart. Investigators discovered that Chad Burkart had heroin for sale.

Firearms found at the farm

Investigators also found 19 firearms inside the two residences on the property, including two assault weapons and eight handguns. Authorities seized the firearms, along with 500 pounds of process packaged marijuana, various packaging materials and scales, and approximately $150,000 in cash. The 1,386 marijuana plants were eradicated, according to the sheriff’s department.

During the service of the search warrant, investigators found small children playing in the immediate area, with easy access to the marijuana and firearms around the property.
