Pot-for-Boat "Salesman" Arrested

An Oroville man was been arrested for a rather unique advertisement on Craigslist.

Pierce agreed to trade marijuana for a similar boat

According to the Oroville police, Billy Jack Pierce III, 33, posted an ad on Craigslist in which he was willing to trade his marijuana for a boat. The posting got the attention of the police and the undercover officers responded to the ad offering him a 26-foot 1992 Mirage ski boat for the drugs.

Not knowing whom he was dealing with, Pierce agreed to meet the officers in Eureka at a Frisbee golf course. The police met Pierce at 5 pm on Friday, February 8. According to the police, Pierce had three pounds of processed marijuana on him, worth about $2,500, which he claimed was for medical purposes.

He was arrested and booked into Butte County Jail from which he was released on Saturday, February 9, after posting a bail of $60, 000. His first court appearance is scheduled to be held on March 1.
