Stabbing in Modesto Park Leaves Teen Dead

A teen was stabbed to death during a robbery attempt late Wednesday evening at Creekwood Park in southeast Modesto. The incident was reported at 8.30 pm on January 29,  by callers who were able to give authorities a description of several suspects involved.

The first arriving Modesto Police officer en route found a person matching the description of one of the suspects near the intersection of Creekwood and Claus. The man seemed to comply but ran as officers chased him briefly before apprehending the suspect behind Johansen High School Stadium.

At the park, officers found the victim with multiple stab wounds. The victim was sent to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The stabbing victim’s name is being withheld until next-of-kin can be notified.

The detained man’s name is being withheld until he is booked into jail. Two other suspects believed to be involved are also being detained and the investigation is ongoing.
