Traffic stop yields major meth bust

VACAVILLE – On Thursday evening, January 10, the Vacaville Crime Suppression Team (CST) performed a traffic stop on Air Base Parkway at Heath Drive in the city of Fairfield and located over one pound of methamphetamine.

CST is tasked with, among other things, identifying gang members and associates, and with follow-up investigations on gang-related crimes. According to a police press release regarding the incident, the street value of the methamphetamine found is approximately $37,000.

As a result of the traffic stop, investigators served a search warrant at a house in this Vallejo neighborhood, and made one more arrest

Arrested were James Jewett, 48, of Vallejo and Carlos Ballardo, 49, of Fairfield. Jewett was charged with felony possession and transportation of a controlled substance, Ballardo with felony transportation of a controlled substance and violation of post-release supervision.

As a result of the traffic stop and drug find, CST and the Vacaville Narcotics Team served a search warrant on a Vallejo residence in the 200 block of Sperry Avenue. Located during that search was additional evidence of drug sales, including what was suspected to be methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and marijuana. Also resulting from the search was the arrest of Asriel Velasquez, 20, on felony charges of possessing narcotics and marijuana for the purpose of selling them.
