Officers were called at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, according to Oceanside Police Lieutenant Leonard Mata.

Once they responded to the scene, officers found the victim lying on the ground in front of the apartment complex, which is located at 415 Grant Street.

The man was visiting his aunt who lives inside the apartment complex. He later walked outside her apartment to a group hanging near a gate that leads to the street.
