Sheriffs Seek Suspicious Suspect

San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a suspect they say is now named a person of interest in the case of a suspicious subject in Templeton.

Detectives say they are looking for Jeffrey Lee Wilson, 41, of Atascadero.

According to the sheriff’s office, they received a report of man carrying a machete and wearing camouflage style clothing in the 1500 block of Templeton Road in Templeton.

When deputies responded to the location where the man was last seen, they say they discovered a burglary had taken place at a nearby business.

The man was last seen going in the direction of the riverbed towards the Home Depot in Atascadero.

Investigators say a search was begun that included sheriff’s deputies, sheriff’s K9 units, ATV’s, CHP helicopter, and Atascadero Police officers.

According to the sheriff’s office, after a lengthy search, the man was not located in the area and the search was discontinued.

Investigators now believe Wilson may be that man.

Wilson is described as a white male adult, with a military style haircut, between 5-8 and 5-9, stocky, reddish-colored skin, wearing camouflage style clothing, and carrying large 10 inch machete.

If anyone has information on Wilson’s whereabouts, they are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 781-4550.
