Young woman fights off kidnapping

The woman was walking along National Ave Thursday morning when she was accosted

SAN DIEGO – A young woman walking on National Avenue was accosted by two men, and fought them off when they tried to grab her.

According to a San Diego Police press report, the 23-year-old woman was walking eastbound on National Ave in the Southcrest neighborhood at 3:18 Thursday morning. A van described as “baby blue” pulled up next to her, and the passenger called out to her. He then jumped out of the van and grabbed her. She fought back, throwing her purse at the man and escaping.

The two men were apprehended on South 41st near National

After she reported the incident to the police, officers spotted a matching van on South 41st street, and two men walking away from it. The men were detained, and the woman was able to identify 25-year-old Adan Espinoza as the man who grabbed her. He and the driver of the van, 23-year-old Israel Morales were arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping.
