Fresno Man Pleads Innocent in Girlfriend’s Murder

FRESNO – The man who was arrested last week for the murder of his girlfriend made his first appearance in court on Thursday and entered a not guilty plea.

Gabriel Rosiles

Gabriel Rosiles, 29, was taken into custody in connection to the death of 30-year-old Michelle Jimenez last Thursday. Investigators with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department said that her body was found in the bathroom of the couple’s mobile home in the 3600 block of South Cherry Avenue.

Investigators said that it appeared Jimenez had been beaten to death, but an official cause of death has not yet been released.

Within hours of finding Jimenez, detectives located Rosiles at a home less than a mile from the scene.

“We had the property surrounded,” said Chris Curtice with the sheriff’s department. “We called for him to come out and he came out with his mother.”

Rosiles is a known gang member and a parolee. During his arraignment in Fresno County Superior Court, Rosiles pleaded innocent. He remains in jail on $1 million bail.

The residence where Jimenez was killed was the same site of a double homicide that happened on August 27, exactly one month before Thursday’s homicide. Two of the men arrested for those murders were relatives of Jimenez. Jimenez’s father, 51-year-old Jose Alfredo Jimenez, and Jimenez’s brother, 34-year-old Jose Mario Jimenez, were arrested for the deaths of Jimmy Oliver Sr., 45, and Jimmy Oliver Jr., 21. Also arrested for that crime was 18-year-old Ray Pranger.

Aside from the family connections and the homicides happening in the same location, detectives have not established any links between the two cases.
