Assault Victim Hit on Head with Golf Club

Grover Beach police arrested a suspect for allegedly hitting another man over the head with a golf club on Sunday.

According to GBPD, officers were dispatched to a report of an assault having just occurred in the 200 block of N. 6th Street about 4:33 a.m.

Police say as officers were responding to that report, numerous 911 calls were received reporting a man yelling for help and knocking on doors in the area.

Police say when officers arrived they found the victim bleeding profusely from a serious head injury and laying on the front porch of a residence.

According to GBPD, the man said he had been held against his will and hit over the head with a golf club. The victim told police he escaped his captor by jumping through a window.

Police say the victim was taken to Sierra Vista Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

According to GBPD, the subsequent investigation led to the residence where the original assault call had been reported.

Investigators say the following investigation and physical evidence led to the arrest of Craig Bruington of Grover Beach for assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked at the San Luis Obispo County jail.
