A police negotiator with the Vallejo Police Department may have helped talk a man out of a suicide attempt on Wednesday.

The view from atop Medusa, scary enough for those even in the ride vehicle

According to the Vallejo Times Herald, at about 12:30 p.m., police officers and firefighters responded to the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom with reports of someone threatening to jump from the theme park’s 150-foot-tall Medusa roller coaster.

It is not immediately known how the man got into the park, since it is currently closed to all but employees during the week.

The man looked to be in his 20s or 30s, and appeared to be intoxicated, police said. No information was given regarding the man’s identification.

According to the Vallejo Times Herald, police stated that the man did not look to be serious about jumping and that he was very cooperative with the police negotiator. The incident was over after about an hour.

Once the man was safely taken down from the roller coaster, he was sent to a local hospital by ambulance to be medically cleared.
