Scooter Thief not Fast Enough for SLO Police

San Luis Police officers have a man in custody for attempting to steal a scooter from a young boy on Monday.

According to SLOPD, an officer was flagged down by a Stenner Street resident regarding the theft of his son’s Razor scooter about 11:45 a.m. The man told police the theft had just occurred.

The resident, who is the victim’s father, told police he witnessed the theft but was unable to catch up to the thief in time to stop him.

According to police, the scooter had been left unattended in the front yard by the child.

Police say the man gave a description of the suspect and the officer was able to locate the suspect about 15 minutes later on Carpenter Street.

Both the scooter and the suspect were identified. The suspect, was placed into custody.
