Sac Sheriff Investigates Fatal Shooting in Carmichael

Homicide detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department are currently investigating a shooting in Carmichael that claimed the life of a 24-year-old man, according to an official Sheriff’s press release. The victim was later identified as Andrew David Coy.

This quiet Carmichael neighborhood was disrupted on Monday afternoon by the shooting

On the afternoon of Monday, August 20, deputies were reportedly called to the 5700 block of Haskell Avenue in Carmichael in response to a man who had been assaulted. While en route to the call, deputies received updated information that the victim may also have been shot, but no further details were given.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies reportedly found the victim unresponsive inside a residence, having sustained a gunshot would to his upper body. Despite attempts by deputies to perform life-saving measures, the victim succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased.

Investigators are speaking with several individuals as possible witnesses, but no information regarding suspects or a motive was immediately available. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 916-874-5115 or Crime Alert at 916-443-HELP.
